What You Need

Standard hardware, no proprietary terminals.

Item Why
An Android tablet (Android 8.0 or later, ideally 10 to 11 inch, front camera) or an iPad Runs the kiosk. The Android kiosk app is the recommended route; an iPad runs it in the browser.
A lockable stand or enclosure at face height Keeps the tablet in place and the camera unobstructed.
Permanent mains power The kiosk is on all the time.
Wi-Fi, with a 4G failover router at busy or 24/7 sites Face checks need a connection.
Optional: a USB badge reader, NFC cards (Android) Faster than typing badge numbers.

Kiosk links and set-up QR codes are on Sites > Kiosk setup (agency console, or the client dashboard for tenant admins).

Android Tablet (Recommended)

The TempClock Kiosk app.

Install the app

Install the TempClock Kiosk app from the link on the Kiosk setup page.

Set the exit PIN

On first start, set a manager exit PIN for this tablet.

Scan the set-up QR

Scan the client's tablet set-up QR and pick the site, or scan the site's own QR. If you use per-device keys, register the tablet on Kiosk devices first and scan that QR (see Kiosk Devices, Badges and Cards).

Done

The app opens full screen on that site and starts again by itself after a power cut.

iPad or Browser

The kiosk link.

Open the site's kiosk link

Scan the site's QR on the Kiosk setup page with the tablet camera, or type the link (it looks like tempclock.com/kiosk/?location=12).

Allow camera and location

Allow the camera and location when the browser asks.

Lock it

Tap Lock kiosk. On iPad also turn on Guided Access. See Kiosk Lock Mode.

Kiosk Settings

Per site, on Kiosk setup.

Express mode: skips the Worker, Visitor or Contractor choice and speeds up clock-out.
Result screen time: how long the confirmation stays (4 seconds by default).
Kiosk language: the site's default language (English, Polish, Romanian or Lithuanian), set on the location.
Camera feed: off by default. Switch it on per site only if you want authorised users to watch the kiosk camera.

Test It

Before workers arrive.

With an enrolled test worker: tap the screen, choose Worker, enter the badge, look at the camera and check the result screen says Clocked in. Then check the clock appears on the live view with the right site. Try a PIN clock too. Sites > Kiosk fleet shows each kiosk's version, last check-in and clock times.

Where to Put It

Light and flow.

At face height, on the route people take in and out, so clock-outs are not forgotten.
Facing away from windows and bright lights behind the worker.
Enough kiosks for the shift change: we plan on about 4 workers a minute per kiosk, and time a trial at your site.

Know who turned up, and pay every hour right.

Face-verified clock-ins, live geofencing and payroll-ready timesheets in one system. Tell us how your shifts run and we will show you how it fits.
